5 Warning Signs
If you notice a frequently changing staff, especially employees of higher importance such as nursing directors or doctors, it may be a sign of poor management. Do your research before choosing a nursing facility for your loved one.
Is the facility clean? Would you feel comfortable sleeping in the beds provided to residents or showering in the available amenities? Make sure your loved ones will be well taken care of in a long-term care facility.
Does the facility have a dietary staff prepared to accommodate different needs, allergies or aversions? Would you eat the food served at this facility?
Find out what other families or previous residents are saying about the facility. Keep in mind that any nursing home can improve and make changes; however reviews are very helpful tools to let you know the history of a facility.
Take a tour. Speak with the current residents and other visitors. Find out what they like and dislike about the facility to help you make the best decision possible for your family.
